Summer Program

        Summer Intensive Program     Summer  Intensive

        Extended Session • June 06-June 24
                   

               This program allows students to maintain their training regime through weekday evening 
              classes at the LI Ballet Academy & Dance during the break between our school year and      summer
               intensive programs. This is a great and affordable way to stay in shape and improve technique.

             
              Young Summer Dancers   June 06-24

Summer Program Ages 3-5

             This program offers weekly classes for students ages 3-5. Continuing students and new
             students are welcome to take classes on a weekly basis for the entire week  session. The program
        for our youngest students encourages children to enjoy the exciting world of
        movement. 
 

Ballet Journeys •2 week June 26-July 07

 Program is offered for two weeks. Ages 5-7


Children Summer Intensive2 week  June 26 -July 07

This Program will include:
Ballet technique Pointe Female and Male Variations Turn Classes Character Classes
Acting Classes   and Stretch Classes   


Junior Intensive
  3 week July 10-July 28 

Junior Intensive Dance Workshop Ages 13-25

This Program will include:Ballet technique,Pointe,Female and Male Variations,Turns, Classes 
Pas de Deux-Partnering Classes,Character Classes,Acting Classes,,Stretch   Classes.

*Classes are Monday through Friday 9 :30 AM to 2:30 pm (Children Intensive) 12:30-4:30 PM ( Junior Intensive)
Dear Dancers,

Applications are now being accepted for students to register for our 2016 Summer Intensive Ballet Program, to be held in LI Ballet Academy & Dance .July- 11 August 05th.

The Masters of Ballet Summer Intensive is a two or four  week programmer in classical dance with a comprehensive curriculum designed for advanced dance students aged from 11 to 19 years.  It offers excellent ballet training which also explores aspects of the wider world of dance.

Students will be given the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most famous Ballet Masters who will help prepare students for the next step towards a professional career in dance and teach them the skills they have gained from dancing in the great opera houses around the world.
Attention will be given to developing each student by focusing on their strengths and talents.

Entry Requirements

Pre-Seniors (Group 1) 9 - 12 years:​ Students should be studying Intermediate Foundation Level or Grade 5.  Pointe work is not essential.

Seniors (Group 2) 13 - 19 years:​ Students should be studying Advanced 1/2 or equivalent (if doing syllabus work) and girls should have three years of pointe work.

Classes take place:
1st Week Monday to  Friday 
2nd Week Monday to Friday  and include:

-  Virtuosity/Solo for girls and boys
-  Pas de Deux 'for Seniors '

-  Historical Dance for 'Pre-Seniors
-  Acting for Ballet Pre-Seniors'
-  Contemporary/Neo Classical
-  Floor barre/Stretching
-  History of Ballet
-   Makeup


Faculty
Master Class,Guest  Teachers
Guest teachers from the Vaganova Ballet Academy, Conrad Belknap ,Juilliard School of Arts ,he studied under Mikhail Baryshnikov at American Ballet Theater school.  Conrad was honored to finish his dance education at the Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington DC from 1990-1994 .Professionally, Conrad worked in St Petersburg, Russia with the Mariinsky Theatre Kirov Ballet. He danced a full spectrum of roles from corps de ballet  to soloist in numerous ballets. He also had the privilege to perform with the Mariinsky Theater Opera. Mr. Belknap finished his professional career as a dancer at Colorado Ballet from 1999-2003.Conrad has taught for Colorado Ballet Academy .

Character Dance and Historical Dance

  Liuba Paterson- currently teaching at Nevada Ballet School and Ballet Cocherto ,Dallas TX  School of Ballet.  Former Dancer at the Classical Ballet Company  St.Petersburg .  Graduated from Vaganova Ballet Academy.

Sharing of Work and Certification

At the end of the course on Friday  parents and guests will be invited to observe students work.

All students will receive a Certificate of Completion, signed by the teachers.

For the last day (Friday) please bring ballet uniform:
Girls: black sleeveless leotard and black chiffon skirt
Boys: black tights and short sleeve white top

Applicants may choose to attend for two weeks only or for the full three weeks course, subject to availability.  Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received.

The course is non-residential but accommodation has been arranged with Academy, for those who require it. This is subject to an additional charge.

Live auditions:
Live auditions will be held at the Long Island Ballet Academy and Dance on
January 25, February 11 ,March 05 @ 12:30-3:00pm by appointment.
Requirements: 
Students should wear only leotards and tights, no skirts or warmers. Bring short resume including the student’s name and address, birth date and ballet training background. 
Audition Fee:
$25.00 and application form
Please include two photos: No portrait photos.
Photos should be:
1. in first arabesque
2. In second position echappe (on Pointe If applies)
Audition by video

Applicants will be assessed before a place is offered. Applicants should upload a recording to YouTube or send a DVD showing their level of ability. The recording/DVD is to be no more than 10 minutes duration and is to include:

Barre:​​ Pliés, battement tendus/jetés, adagio, grands battements.
Centre:​ Battement tendus/jetés, adagio, pirouettes.
Allegro:​ Small, medium and high jumps.  For Junior Students, any travel combination from the corner.
Pointe:​ Any three combinations.  Pirouettes (for girls who already use them).

Girls and boys should wear suitable ballet uniform for the auditions, and this is defined as:
Girls:​​ leotard, ballet tights, soft ballet shoes, point shoes.
Boys:​​ ballet tights and short sleeve top or tank unitard, ballet shoes.

The closing date for application  is  March 05 th,2016.

Applications should state whether it is for the two week course, the four weeks .  Places will be offered subject to availability and according to the order in which they are received.  Once a place has been offered it will be held for 14 days.  If the course fee is not received by then, the place may be offered to another student.  Details of how payment can be made will be sent out with the offer of a place.

It would be better to send out an application/registration form, that way we will ensure you get all the information you need first time.
